It is easy these days to feel that life is becoming increasingly challenging and difficult., and that everything around us is growing more unpredictable by the day. We may even feel that something is going terribly wrong 'out there' in the world; as we feel a growing anxiety and fear about what might happen next. Yet every spiritual teacher and sage since the beginning of time has said that everything is unfolding exactly the way it is suppose to be unfolding, and furthermore, it is all happening for our highest benefit. Of course, when we are in the middle of some challenge in our Life - we've just lost our job, or our relationship has ended, or an illness has suddenly appeared in the body - we can lose this perspective very quickly, and begin resisting and struggling against the Flow of Life.
With the perspective of time however, we can look back and see how the challenges we have gone through have always led to something more expansive and joyful in our lives, even if it was just to teach us something that we needed to learn, such as more patience or a greater acceptance of Life. Even the so-called 'enlightened state', is nothing more than clearly seeing that everything is utterly perfect as it is. As the great spirituall teacher Alan Watts once said, "Spiritual awakening is the difficult process whereby the increasing realization that everything is as wrong as it can be flips suddenly into the realization that everything is as right as it can be."
The simple truth can never be too simple: Everything is perfect exactly as it is, and until we open and realize this Truth for ourselves, we will continue to suffer and feel that something is going wrong in our lives. We will also continue to overlook the lessons and messages that are being presented to us by the Tao in every single moment that unfolds. Though it may be hard to remember as we navigate the challenges in our lives; there are no mistakes, and we are always exactly where we need to be right Now. In the acceptance of this one Truth, we actually relax, and awaken to the utter perfection of the Universal Flow. As we trust and move with the direction of this Flow, we experience the freedom and ease of a Life unhindered by worry and fear, a life of 'no mistakes'.
